I am a painter as much as I am a potter. I enjoy brushes and the marks they make. I was introduced to Engobe at a recent Celadon workshop at the Fire Arts Center. The mysterious sensation of making an intentional and yet free flowing mark on the form gives me such a THRILL. I enjoy that it is a solid black and that it applies well to both greenware and bisque ware. (Different textures of the clays state creates different marks when brush and form connect, which means more options for expression!!) I am looking forward to exploring Engobe further and making my own handmade brushes for more added effect as well. Stay tuned for the next adventure!
